Bob Dylan’s upcoming Bootleg Series Volume 18: Through The Open Window, 1956-1963, is set to be released on October 31. The comprehensive eight-disc collection features 139 tracks – including 48 previously unreleased songs – chronicling Dylan’s formative years from his teenage days in Minnesota to his early New York folk scene performances, culminating in a 1963 Carnegie Hall concert. The set features enhanced audio from rare recordings, including unheard originals like “Liverpool Gal” and the newly shared tune “Rocks and Gravel,” and includes contributions from historian Sean Wilentz, who writes that this collection serves as “a living connection between the past and the present, the old and the new, which are never as distinct as we might think.” Alongside intimate club and party recordings, the collection captures key moments such as studio sessions for The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and The Times They Are-A Changin’, the 1963 Newport Folk Festival, and his performance at the historic 1963 March on Washington.
